LUBBOCK, Texas — St. Mary's Women's Soccer played Lubbock Christian to a 1-1 draw in Heartland Conference action on Thursday.

The Rattlers (4-0-2, 2-0-2), earning their second consecutive draw in Heartland Conference play, grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 76th minute when freshman Alexia Maldonado scored on a cross from Maren Craig

But the Chaps (3-2-1, 1-2-1) answered back in the waning minutes, as Haley Knesek fired the equalizer with less than four minutes remaining to tie the score at 1-1.

The teams subsequently played two scoreless overtime periods to finish in the draw.

Rattler goalkeeper Caitlin McCarrell had a terrific evening in the net, recording 15 saves on a night she faced 57 shots. St. Mary's registered just five shots, but made the most of them with three coming on goal and one finding the net.

St. Mary's will return to action Saturday, when the Rattlers face Oklahoma Christian at 1 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
