Skyhawks hand Rattlers first loss of season

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's dropped a match for the first time this season to regional foe Fort Lewis, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
 
The loss comes two days after the Rattlers earned a draw with No. 21 Colorado Mesa. Despite a strong performance from Pato Botello Faz, who posted his second goal in as many matches and tallied an assist, St. Mary's could not hold on to the lead on two separate occasions.
 
In the fourth minute, the Rattlers struck quickly with a goal from Reis Woolley after a feed from Juan Sanchez. After a goal from FLC in the 21st minute, Botello Faz began the second half with a goal from outside the box.
 
Less than five minutes later, the Skyhawks responded with another equalizer, beginning a sequence of three unanswered goals.
 
Thursday, the Rattlers will begin Heartland Conference play when they host Dallas Baptist at Sigma Beta Chi Field at 7:30 p.m.
