Rattlers score 6 in the 7th to sting Texans

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — St. Mary's Baseball picked up a key regional victory Wednesday, defeating Tarleton State 6-3 on the road. 

The Rattlers (20-14) scored all of their runs in the seventh inning, which featured a three-run home run from Bryce Brandl that helped St. Mary's take a 6-1 lead by the end of the inning. Zach Johnson, Jake Marler and Donnie Perez also had an RBI apiece in the inning. 

Perez went 3 for 3 in the game with a run scored, accounting for nearly half of the Rattlers' seven hits.

Troy Garcia went the distance on the mound for St. Mary's, pitching his best game of the season to nab his first victory as a Rattler. The redshirt-freshman struck out four and allowed six hits and only two earned runs. 

St. Mary's will resume play this weekend, kicking off a three-game road series against Newman on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. in Wichita, Kansas. The series will conclude with Game 3 at 1 p.m. Saturday.
