#11 Women's Tennis makes quick work of Storm for 6th straight win

SAN ANTONIO — The St. Mary's Women's Tennis team captured its sixth straight win Friday when it defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State, 8-1, at Annemarie Tennis Center.

The Rattlers extended their win streak, which stretches back to the second match of the season. The win was also the sixth win in seven after the opening day loss to Division I foe University of Texas-San Antonio.

The Snakes started the match off by taking all three doubles matches to get out to a 3-0 advantage.

The No. 6-ranked duo of Jamie Lee Denton and Kaylin Kruseman came out 8-3 winners over Reljic-Catipovic in the No. 1 match. No. 2's Cristina Lopez and Hannah Petersen, ranked No. 15 nationally, and No. 3's Ally Maciel and Mariela Sarinana would follow suit as both St. Mary's teams were victorious 8-1 over their respective Storm opponents.

The momentum would continue into singles action where the Rattlers would only drop one of the six matches in contention. 

Playing in the No. 1 spot, the senior Lopez would take a close first set and come out victorious 7-5, 6-3 over Anna Buiukian. Freshman Ally Maciel would cruise to a win at No. 3 singles, defeating Catipovic 6-2, 6-0. Tyra Timm, who was inserted for singles, would extend the Rattler advantage with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Maria Martinez.

No. 5 Petersen and No. 6 Sarinana would both win their respective matches 6-1, 6-3 to round out the victory for the Gold and Blue.

Now with a 6-1 record, the women will hit the courts Saturday to try and extend their win streak to seven as they take on Florida Southern at 2 p.m.
