Migl gets 1,100 career win as Rattlers blast past Mustangs

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's dominated the first double-header against the University of the Southwest with a pair of victories Friday night at Dickson Stadium as head coach Charlie Migl collected career wins 1,099 and 1,100.
 
In a complete team effort, the Rattlers defeated the Mustangs 13-2 in game one behind a complete game outing from Hayden Hibler and a strong outing from the offense.
 
Hibler (1-0) picked up his first victory of the season after allowing only two earned runs and striking out three Mustangs.
 
Donnie Perez started the scoring for the Rattlers with an RBI double in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Keith Funk followed with an RBI single, scoring Perez, pushing the Rattlers up 2-0. An inning later, Funk connected on another RBI single, adding to the Snakes advantage.
 
Perez would finish the game 3-for-4 from the plate with four-RBI and three-runs scored as Funk collected three hits and tallied five RBI.
 
The nightcap featured a gem from Cole Hybner and Drew Lamont who combined for a complete game, six-hit shutout in an 8-0 Rattler victory. Hybner (3-1) threw for seven innings, allowing only four hits and striking out three while Lamont finished the game tossing two shutout innings, fanning three Mustangs.
 
Zach Johnson and Kyle Jenkins each went 3-for-4 at the plate as they combined for three-RBI. Jack Kaiser added a pair of doubles and three-RBI.
 
Both teams will complete their four-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Dickson Stadium.
