By Brian Magloyoan | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's hosted Oklahoma Panhandle State Wednesday afternoon at Dickson Stadium as the teams split the Wednesday doubleheader with each game decided by one-run.

Cole Hybner got the nod for the Rattlers in the opening game as he tossed six complete innings in a 4-3 Rattlers victory. Hybner struck out six Aggies, as he retired 17 of the 23 batters he faced, picking up his fourth victory of the season.

In the fifth inning, Brian Ramirez sparked the Rattlers with a 2-RBI triple before scoring on a single from Jack Kaiser as they each finished 1-for-3 at the plate.

In the nightcap, the reigning Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week, Ty Miles received a no decision as he tossed 7 1/3 innings, striking out seven batters as the Aggies defeated the Rattlers 6-5.

Angel Vega started the scoring for the Rattlers as he crushed a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning giving StMU the 3-1 advantage.

The Aggies would tie the game with a two-run fourth inning before the Rattlers would respond with a Jonathan Ramirez RBI-single.

A three-run ninth inning from the Aggies denied the Rattlers the sweep.

Keith Funk contributed to the Rattlers offense by going 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.

Both the Rattlers and the Aggies will finish their three-game series tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
