Rangel, Michel shine in Rattlers 18th straight victory

SAN ANTONIO — Kristi Rangel delivered St. Mary's first shutout since March 4 as the Rattlers completed the sweep of Oklahoma Christian with a 2-0 win on Saturday afternoon at the Softball Stadium, extending their winning-streak to 18 games.
 
Rangel tossed seven complete innings allowing only five hits, striking out two and retiring 20 of the 26 batters she faced.
 
Hannah Michel continued her impressive season as she went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, scoring one run and one-RBI.
 
Raynelle Nash and Alena Moreno were the only other Rattlers to register a hit in the game as both went 1-for-3 at the plate.
 
In the third, Nash drove home the first run with an RBI-single to left. Two innings later, Michel would tack on an insurance run, scoring Hannah Fields with an RBI-double.
 
St. Mary's will head on the road to face St. Edward's in a Battle of the Saints on March 23 for a three-game series, in a rematch of last season's Heartland Conference Championship.
