DENVER — In the battle of ranked teams, No. 11-ranked St. Mary's Women's Tennis suffered an 8-1 setback Friday against No. 3 Saint Leo in Denver.

Boasting a strong lineup, Saint Leo (10-1) was able to do what only one other team has done this season: beat the Rattlers. This marked the Snakes' first loss since opening day when they were beaten by UTSA, and it is their first loss to a Division II opponent in the seven matches they have played against divisional rivals.

The lone win for the Rattlers came by way of Jamie Lee Denton and Kaylin Kruseman as they defeated Isabella Robbiani and Anastasia Wagner, 8-6, in No. 1 doubles.

Hannah Petersen had a chance at victory after battling from a set down against Saint Leo's Madeline Gauthier, but the freshman came up short as she narrowly lost in the third-set tiebreaker.
