Women's Tennis wins 9th straight with shutout of Metro State

DENVER — The cold did everything but put off the St. Mary's Women's Tennis Team as they stayed hot, winning their ninth straight match by dispatching Metro State 6-0 on Thursday.

The women battled tough conditions, but were able to come away with a win, only losing a total of 20 games in six matches.

Three impressive doubles displays were on tap for the Snakes as Jamie Lee Denton and Kaylin Kruseman defeated No. 1's Wright and Kerr 8-2. No. 2's Cristina Lopez and Hannah Petersen and No.3's Ally Maciel and Mariela Sarinana both recorded 8-1 wins against their respective Roadrunner opponents.

Singles action was cut short due to inclement weather, but not before No. 1 Lopez recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win over Wright and at No. 2 Denton notched a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Kerr. Kruseman would round out the proceedings with a 6-4, 6-4 win of her own at No. 3 to improve the Snakes' ninth win of the season.

The women will return to the courts Friday as they take on Saint Leo at 9 a.m. to try and collect their 10^th win of the season.
