@StMUsoftball routs cross-town rival OLLU

SAN ANTONIO — On a night that St. Mary's honored one of its legends, the current Rattlers paid tribute in their own way with a 8-0 victory in five innings over Our Lady of the Lake, Tuesday night at the Park at St. Mary's.
 
After legendary Rattler Softball player Kym Kling's No. 17 was retired, the Rattlers wasted little time in asserting their dominance against the Saints. Following two scoreless innings, the Rattlers erupted for six in the third, highlighted by a grand slam from Hannah Michel.
 
"I knew I had to make adjustments at the plate," Michel said. "So I came strong in the third and came up with a hit."
 
Michel, in addition to the four RBI, went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Olivia Van Hook added two RBI on a triple in her second at-bat. Elizabeth Phillips made the most of her pinch it appearance knocking in an RBI of her own in the bottom of the fourth inning.
 
Jorden Russell picked up her second win of the season after pitching four complete, allowing only two hits, striking out three Saints batters.
 
Next for the Rattlers will be a trip to Canyon, Texas where they will play in the West Texas Inivitational.
