All-Tournament Team Announced

SAN ANTONIO — It was a quiet final day of the St. Mary's NCAA D-II College Classic as the Rattlers dropped their final two games to East Central and No. 10 Tarleton State respectively.
 
Game one pitted Hope Russell (So., Vidor, Texas) against an East Central lineup that was held in-check throughout most of the game. But in the fourth inning, the Tigers were able to capitalize on a fielding error from Alessandra Oritz (So., Uvalde, Texas) to score the first run of the contest.
 
An eventful sixth inning led to another Tigers run after an error from Sydney Wellmann (Sr., Brenham, Texas) resulting in the 2-0 final.
 
Russell (0-1) gave up two unearned, on three hits, striking out three in seven complete innings pitched.
 
Alena Moreno (Jr., Pearland, Texas) and Raynelle Nash (Fr., San Antonio) each notched a pair of hits in game.
 
In the finale against Tarleton State, both Moreno and Nash each tallied a hit with Nash scoring the lone run for the Rattlers on an RBI single from Olivia Van Hook (Jr., Brenham, Texas) in the sixth. The Texanns responded in the top of the seventh with a three-run barrage, securing an 8-1 victory over St. Mary's.
 
Following the game, the All-Tournament Team was announced, featuring a pair of Rattlers, Alena Moreno and Ashley Mills. In five games, Moreno batted .438 with seven hits and two runs scored. Mills ended the weekend with a perfect 0.00 era, striking out 10 in 11 innings pitched in three appearances.

On Feb. 9 the Rattlers will be back in action against Our Lady of the Lake following the St. Mary's Annual Chili Cook-off. Before the game, St. Mary's Hall of Famer Kym Kling will have her No. 17 retired at the Softball Stadium.
