Men's Basketball loses heartbreaker to DBU

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's fell to DBU in the closing seconds, 74-72 at Bill Greehey Arena in the Rattlers' home regular season finale Monday night.
 
The Rattlers were sparked by AJ McGlown whose team high 14 points, four rebounds and two assists kept them in the ballgame.
 
St. Mary's defense along with its precise offensive execution set the tone early, jumping out to a quick lead against the Patriots. StMU entered the half with a 37-36 advantage as the team was clicking on all cylinders.
 
In his final home game, Kriston Minor fell three rebounds shy of a double double, racking up 10 points and seven boards in 39 minutes of action. Fellow senior Bryce Smith put together an all-around performance with eight points, four rebounds and four assists.
 
Yanni Wetzell added 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field before fouling out of the game while Lachie Woodhill was a force on the offensive boards, creating five second chance shot opportunities for the Rattlers while scoring eight points.
 
With two more games left in the regular season, the Rattlers will head on the road for a pair of games, beginning with a match up against Lubbock Christian on Feb. 25.
