By Chad Peters | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — It was a pair of seniors leading the charge as St. Mary's Women's Basketball raced past Texas-Permian Basin 77-64 on Saturday's Senior Day at Bill Greehey Arena.

Dezirae Elias and Mariah Lee scored 17 points apiece in a pair of efficient performances, as Elias shot 6 of 10 and Lee 8 of 10 in the victory. Lee added seven rebounds, while Elias had five assists, three steals and three rebounds.

In addition to honoring Elias and Lee for their career contributions to the Rattlers, St. Mary's honored fellow seniors Haley Richter and Emily Troell during a pregame ceremony. All four seniors started for St. Mary's.

Two other Rattlers also hit double figures off the bench, as Kiara Etheridge had 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds and Arysia Porter scored 12.

St. Mary's (16-7, 10-5 in Heartland Conference) never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a 23-13 lead over UTPB (5-19, 1-13) after the first quarter. The lead grew to 45-26 by halftime, and the Rattlers never had to sweat in the second half as they led by double figures the rest of the way.

St. Mary's held the Falcons to 44.6 shooting for the game, and yielding just a 4-of-19 clip from beyond the arc. The Rattlers, meanwhile, shot 50.8 percent from the floor.

The Rattlers won most parts of the game, including the battle in the paint 48-38. St. Mary's also had 17 points off turnovers compared to the Falcons' six, and saw its bench outscore UTPB's 35-18.

St. Mary's will return to the court Thursday, when it hosts Texas A&M International in its home finale. The teams are currently tied for second place in the Heartland Conference standings, trailing only No. 1-nationally ranked Lubbock Christian in the league race. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
