SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Women's Basketball kept alive its own winning streak while ending Lubbock Christian's.

The Rattlers defeated the defending national-champion Chaparrals 55-47 at Bill Greehey Arena for the Snakes' sixth straight victory at home and third straight overall.

The victory snapped Lubbock Christian's 18-game winning streak in Heartland Conference play, which dated back to last year's undefeated season.

Point guard Arysia Porter logged her third double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while LaBraile Fields chipped in nine points. Kiara Etheridge led the team with 11 rebounds.

The Rattlers (11-2, 3-0) outscored the Chaps (5-7, 0-1) in every quarter, taking a 32-29 lead into the break. St. Mary's stayed in front in the second half, outscoring Lubbock Christian 23-18 over the final two quarters to secure the 55-47 win.

St. Mary's is tied with St. Edward's atop the Heartland Conference standings with 3-0 records in league play.

The Rattlers and Hilltoppers will square off on Thursday in Austin, Texas. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
