Men’s Hoops derailed in overtime by Hillcats

SAN ANTONIO — On the opening day of Heartland Conference play, Rattler Men's Basketball went the distance, and then some, against Rogers State, falling to the Hillcats, 71-67 in overtime.
 
A pair of missed free throws in regulation prevented a Rattler victory, giving RSU a second chance. In the extra period, Rogers State outscored the Rattlers 11-7 as the Rattlers fall to 2-8 on the season.
 
St. Mary's was led by a team-high 20 points from Will Ferguson, who played in all 45 minutes of the game. Yanni Wetzell played well in a losing effort, notching a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Ed Seay provided quality minutes off the bench, pouring in nine points and nine rebounds while Freddie Williams added eight points and six boards of his own.
 
The Rattlers will look to bounce back on Monday when they host UA Fort Smith at 5 p.m. inside Bill Greehey Arena.
