Overtime buzzer-beater spoils Rattler comeback against #14 Rams

SAN ANTONIO — Despite playing from behind for most of the evening, the St. Mary's Rattlers continued to battle into overtime against No. 14 Angelo State, falling to the Rams on a buzzer-beater, 89-87.
 
With 24 seconds to play in the extra period, Will Ferguson drained a tough, contested three-pointer to tie the game at 87-87. Opting not to call time out, the Rams ran their set play to perfection, resulting in the buzzer beating jumper by Prince Foster.
 
The Rattlers (2-6) were sparked by the play of Ferguson and Skyler Brooks, both of whom drained a trio of threes each. Ferguson would finish the game with 13 points and seven assists while Brooks posted 12 points and three assists.
 
Off the bench, Ed Seay played inspired basketball, posting a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds.
 
Yanni Wetzell led the Rattlers in scoring with 18 points while grabbing nine boards as Freddie Williams added 13 points of his own on 6-of-12 shooting from the field.
 
St. Mary's will return to action on the road against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 9 as part of a quick two-game road trip.
