STEPHENVILLE, Texas — A team-high 16 points on 80 percent shooting, to go along with six rebounds, is what freshman Tyra Cormier orchestrated in her first collegiate game as the Rattlers defeated Cameron, 81-64, Friday afternoon.

Holding a slim, five-point lead at the half, the Rattlers exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Aggies, 27-8. The Rattlers dominated play in the post as they scored 46 points in the paint while shooting an outstanding 73 percent from the field in the second half.

As good as the Rattlers' offense was, their defense held Cameron to under 33 percent shooting for the game and a dismal 10 percent from beyond the three-point line.

In addition to Cormier, four other Rattlers scored double-figures. Fellow Rattler newcomer, Tia Mason tallied an efficient 10 points on 4-for-4 shooting in 10 minutes of play.

Kiara Etheridge began her senior campaign with 15 points and 7 boards while sophomore Arysia Porter notched her second career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to six assists as Kealani Marquez poured in 14 points.

The Rattlers will look to finish the Tarleton State Classic on a high-note when they face the host TexAnns on Saturday at 5 p.m.
