Rattlers grounded by Jets at home

SAN ANTONIO — Returning home after two matches on the road, the St. Mary's Rattlers hosted the Newman Jets Thursday night in a Heartland Conference matchup at Bill Greehey Arena where the Rattlers would fall in straight sets 25-14, 25-23 and 25-23.
 
St. Mary's (9-8, 3-3) were led by Lauren Martinez who led the team with 10 kills. Bree Perry posted a match-high 31 assists while Amanda Lake tallied 17 digs.
 
Channing Hankins contributed eight kills and eight digs of her own as Shelley Chapron added six kills and an assist.
 
In the Heartland Conference standings, the Rattlers drop to fifth, a half game out of third place behind Newman and Lubbock Christian.
 
The Rattlers will return to the court on Saturday against UA Fort Smith at noon inside Bill Greehey Arena.
