Rattlers denied by 2nd half Patriot surge

DALLAS — St. Mary's Women's Soccer fell to Dallas Baptist 2-1 on Thursday afternoon at Patriot Soccer Field.
 
Despite, being outshot 5-3 in the first half, the Rattlers managed to take a 1-0 lead at halftime off a Brianna Shafer goal in the 28th minute.
 
Less than 10 minutes into the second half, the Rattlers conceded the equalizer off a free kick. The Patriots would complete their comeback with a goal in the 83rd minute as the Rattlers lose for the first time in six matches.
 
Rachel Gurinsky led the offensive effort, placing two of her three shots on goal while Leah Whitaker and Alexia Maldonado posted one shot each.
 
Goalkeeper Erin Longford recorded a match-high five saves in her ninth consecutive complete game.
 
The Rattlers will wrap-up the regular season against conference-leading St. Edward's in Austin, Texas on Oct. 29.
