Cruz Santory's PK salvages 1-1 draw against Hillcats

By Chad Peters | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

CLAREMORE, Oklahoma — Roxy Cruz Santory helped St. Mary's Women's Soccer salvage a 1-1 draw in a Heartland Conference game against Rogers State on Saturday.

Cruz Santoro netted the tying goal in the 83rd minute, making good on a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season.

The teams played through two scoreless overtimes, as the Rattlers (8-3-4, 6-2-4) settled for their second draw in their last three contests.

The Hillcats quite literally made the most of every opportunity in the game, scoring on their only shot of the game — a cross that Jasmine Guerra put in the back of the net in the 14th minute.

St. Mary's outshot Rogers State 25-1, including 19-0 through the second half and both overtime periods.

Cruz Santoro led the Rattlers with eight shots in the game, followed by three apiece from Lisa Tomenendal and Alexia Maldonado

The Rattlers will be back in action on Thursday, when they face Dallas Baptist at 5 p.m. in Dallas.
