Rattlers denied at the net in loss to DBU

DALLAS — One number stood out in St. Mary's Volleyball's 3-0 loss to Dallas Baptist on Thursday: blocks.

On a night where the Rattlers totaled more kills, assists, digs and an equal hitting percentage, DBU's 10 block assists to the Rattlers' two total blocks helped lead the Patriots to a narrow straight-sets victory by the scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-18. 

Tarine Grace led the way with 11 kills to go along with a .346 attack percentage, while Channing Hankins added 10 kills and Shelley Chapron had nine. Charon also hit .438, tops on the team. 

Amanda Lake had a team-high 17 digs, while Rachael Scicchitano paced the Rattlers with 30 assists. 

The victory pulled the Patriots even with the Rattlers for fifth place in the Heartland Conference standings at 3-5 in league play. St. Mary's is 10-11 on the season.

The Rattlers return to action Saturday, when they take on St. Edward's at noon in Austin, Texas.
