Rattlers grounded in Newman

WICHITA, Kansas — The St. Mary's Rattlers fell to the Newman Jets Thursday night, 3-1 at Wilkins Field.
 
Newman stuck first with a goal in the ninth minute. The lead was short lived as the Rattlers capitalized in the 11th minute when Pato Botello Faz scored off his own rebound.
 
Five minutes later, the Jets took the lead in the closely matched contest with the go-ahead goal.
 
Dan Johns led the team with three shots, placing one on goal while Kiernan Akers and Juan Sanchez placed their lone shots on frame.
 
The Rattlers will travel to Rogers State on Oct. 22 for a Heartland Conference matchup.
