Roou, Martinez power Rattlers past Saints

SAN ANTONIO — A dominating performance helped the St. Mary's Rattlers secure a straight sets victory over the Our Lady of the Lake Saints on Tuesday at Bill Greehey Arena.
 
The non conference affair saw the Rattlers jump out to an early lead, a lead they would not surrender throughout the majority of the match.  Highlighted by the performances of Lauren Martinez and Erin Roou, the Rattlers dominated the Saints.
 
After taking the opening set 25-18, the Rattlers won the second set in convincing fashion, 25-4, before powering to a 25-23 win in the final set.
 
Martinez would record a match-high 13 kills while Roou would tally 33 assists and eight digs. Amanda Lake added four service aces, four assists and eight digs to what was already a stellar all-around team performance.
 
Channing Hankins and Tarine Grace would each post seven kills in the victory.
 
Three straight road matches await the Rattlers as they get set to face Trinity on Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.
