FAIRBANKS, Alaska — St. Mary's Volleyball made short work of the Minot State Beavers Saturday afternoon, defeating them in straight sets, 3-0.

The Rattlers followed that with another victory, topping host Alaska Fairbanks, 3-1, to close out the Flint Hills Resources Nanook Classic. St. Mary's finished in second place at the tournament.

The Rattlers (1-1) notched their first victory of the season against Minot State behind a team-high nine kills from Maddi King (So., Round Rock, Texas) and four blocks from Lauren Holman (Sr., Rowlett, Texas).

Holman's four blocks set the tone as St. Mary's dominated at the net with a 12-2 edge in blocks.

Solid contributions from Channing Hankins (Fr., Katy, Texas), who notched 13 digs, and Kalyn Guthrie (Sr., Corpus Christi, Texas) added to the Rattler victory.

In the nightcap, King was sensational on the attack, registering 16 kills along with a .393 hitting percentage. Rachacel Scicchitano had a team-high 21 assists.
