Kilmer, Rattler defense net second straight clean sheet

SAN ANTONIO — It was a physical contest between two Heartland Conference foes at Sigma Beta Chi Field as St. Mary's defeated Texas A&M International, 1-0, Sunday night.

Both teams were deadlocked at zero for the better part of the match. In the 66th minute, a goal by Victor Luna (Sr., Sealy, Texas), set up by a deflection from Patricio Botello Faz (Fr., Helotes, Texas), was all the Rattlers needed for the victory.

Mitchell Kilmer (R-So., Frisco, Texas) recorded his second consecutive clean sheet of the weekend with seven saves, improving his record to 2-2.

The non-conference affair saw both teams combine for 17 fouls and four yellow cards.

St. Mary's will look to get back over .500 on Friday, as it takes on Eastern New Mexico at Sigma Beta Chi Field at 7:30 p.m.
