DALLAS — In yet another matchup of nationally ranked regional opponents, the St. Mary's Rattlers Women's Tennis team notched another notable win over Cameron, 8-1, on Thursday afternoon.

The No. 16 Rattlers maintained their position at the top of the South Central Region with the convincing win over the No. 31 Aggies.

The doubles remained a positive for the Snakes as they took all three points into the singles portion of play.

Mariana Rong (Sr., Jinan, China) and Cristina Lopez (Jr., San Antonio) dropped one game on their way to a win over Gutierrez and Sanchez, 8-1, at No. 1. At No. 2, Jamie Lee Denton (Jr., San Angelo, Texas) and Kaylin Kruseman (Fr., Houston, Texas) were not far behind with an 8-3 victory over Torres and Kovinic. Rounding out the sweep were Tyra Timm (Fr., Johannesburg) and Kerry Wiegand (Jr., San Antonio), who cruised to an 8-4 decision over Wood and Veljic to put St. Mary's up 3-0 overall.

Needing only two wins to wrap up the win, the Rattlers won five of six to close out the match against their Oklahoma rivals.

Rong battled in a three-set affair, but came out victorious at No. 1, 6-0, 2-6, 10-8 over Gutierrez. Lopez had a much easier time at No. 2 as she came out on top of the Aggies' Torres, 6-4,6-1.

Denton suffered the lone loss for the Rattlers at No. 3, dropping a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Wood.

The Rattlers took the No. 4, 5 and 6 matches all in straight-sets to finish off Cameron in style.

Kruseman defeated Kovinic 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 before Timm was victorious against Sanchez 6-2, 6-2 at     No. 5. Senior Felicity Delgado (Sr., Universal City, Texas) did her best to duplicate the works of her freshmen teammates and took a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win to cap off an impressive win for the women.

The win improved the Rattlers to a 9-1 mark on the year and they are now on an eight-match win streak.

They return to the courts on March 20 in Pueblo, Colo., where they will kick off a three-match Colorado road trip with Metro State.
