Unbeaten Chaps derail Rattlers

SAN ANTONIO — Saturday afternoon the St. Mary's Rattlers played host to Heartland Conference foes, Lubbock Christian, in the final home game of the calendar year, losing 77-51 despite a season-high, 20 points, from LaBraile Fields.
 
Fields (Jr., Augusta, Georgia) continued her stellar play, knocking in 5-of-7 from behind the arc and assisting on three Rattler field goals. Her eight first quarter points helped the Rattlers secure a four-point lead.
 
A 12-2 run for the visitors turned the tide in the second frame as Lubbock Christian finished the quarter outscoring the Rattlers 20-4. The Chaps would go on to out-rebound the Rattlers 40-21 in the game.
 
The Rattlers offense was held at by the Chaps defense as the Snakes were held to 31 percent shooting from the field. LCU limited the production of Kiara Etheridge (Jr., San Antonio) whom finished with a season-low nine points and six rebounds.
 
Arysia Porter (Fr., San Antonio) contributed six points, three rebounds and three steals while Mariah Lee (Sr., Houston, Texas) added six points of her own along with two rebounds.
 
The Rattlers will close out 2015 on the road as they play Newman on New Years Eve in Wichita, Kan.
