By Chad Peters | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Women's Basketball dazzled in its home debut Thursday evening, outgunning previously unbeaten Lewis-Clark State 74-59 at Bill Greehey Arena.

Dezirae Elias had a sensational evening, scoring 21 points to go along with six rebounds and seven assists — including one behind-the-back, no-look beauty to set up Mariah Lee down low. Kiara Etheridge had her patented double-double with 12 points and a game-high 14 boards, while Lee added 12 points off the bench on 5-of-5 shooting.

The Rattlers opened a big 20-10 lead in the first quarter, which swelled to 38-24 by halftime. StMU led by as many as 22 points, and led for 34:54 of the game's 40 minutes.

St. Mary's improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory, while handing the fast-paced Warriors (7-1) out of the NAIA their first loss.

The Rattlers won at just about all parts of the floor, shooting 8 for 24 from 3-point range compared to the Warriors' 2-for-16 clip from beyond the perimeter; while also outrebounding the Warriors 45-34.

St. Mary's had an astounding 18 offensive boards in the game, led by Etheridge's five. It marked her third double-double in four tries.

Elias shot 6 of 15 from the floor, including 3-of-9 from long range, where she tied for the team lead with a trio of 3's. Ciaira Briseno also connected three times, helping carry the Rattlers bench by going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc for nine points.

St. Mary's limited Lewis-Clark State to under 40-percent shooting (23-60) for the game, while forcing 13 turnovers.

St. Mary's will be back in action Friday, when it takes on Arkansas-Monticello at 5:15 p.m. to open up the women's portion of the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic. The men will also take part in the affair, with St. Mary's playing in the backend of a men's doubleheader when it takes on Missouri S&T at 3 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
