WICHITA FALLS, Texas — St. Mary's gets its first victory of the season taking the final game of the Midwestern State Classic against the host Mustangs, 81-58, Saturday night.

After a disappointing finish the night before, the Rattlers turned it into a distant memory, outscoring Midwestern State 28-6 in the opening period, holding the Mustangs to 20 percent shooting from the field.

It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Rattlers who shot 57 percent from behind the arc and had four players score in double figures.

Kiara Etheridge (Jr., San Antonio) was efficient with a game-high 16 points on seven of nine shooting in 25 minutes. Dezirae Elias (Sr., Chandler, Ariz.) added 10 points, two assists and three rebounds.

The starters set the tone for the rest of team as the contribution off the bench from Ciaira Briseno (Jr., McAllen, Texas) and Haley Richter (Sr., Hondo, Texas) helped put the Rattlers in firm control. Both players set their career high in points with 12 and combining for seven 3-pointers.

Etheridge and Elias each earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Ashbrook Classic.

St. Mary's will play one more game on the road against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Nov. 21 before the home opener on Nov. 24 inside Bill Greehey Arena.
