Hilltoppers top @StMUwsoccer in regular season finale

AUSTIN, Texas — In the final match of the regular season, the St. Mary's Rattlers were shutout by the St. Edward's Hilltoppers, 2-0, at Lewis-Chen Family Field on Sunday afternoon.
 
The match had Heartland Conference Tournament implications with both clubs jockeying for position in the final standings. St. Edward's maintained the pressure on the Rattlers throughout the match, holding St. Mary's to one shot, outshooting the visitors 16-1.
 
Alyssa Taramona (Sr., Forney, Texas) finished with a match-high eight saves as Lauren Peck (Sr., San Antonio) launched the Rattlers' lone shot on goal.
 
St. Mary's finishes the season fourth in the conference standings, setting up a rematch with nationally ranked Dallas Baptist in the first round. With the victory, the Hilltoppers finish second in the conference, earning a date with Lubbock Christian.
 
The Heartland Conference Tournament will kickoff Thursday, Nov. 5 in Dallas, Texas at Patriot Soccer Field on the campus of Dallas Baptist University.
