@StMUwsoccer bounces back strong in 3-1 win over UTPB

ODESSA, Texas — Women's soccer defeated Texas-Permian Basin 3-1 in Odessa, Texas on Saturday, notching their first victory in Heartland Conference competition this season.
 
Lauren Peck (Sr., San Antonio) began the afternoon with a goal in the 4th minute of the match. It was her third goal of the season and second against the Falcons.
 
It seemed that the Rattlers would enter the half with the one goal advantage, until a scramble at the front of the net led to an equalizer for UTPB from Sarah McPherson with ten seconds left.
 
The Rattlers responded with a dominant 2nd half, outshooting the Falcons 11-3. In the 55th minute, Brittney Lacek (Sr., Gillette, Wyo.) netted her second goal of the year for the game winner.
 
In the 64th minute, Kristal Williams (So., Ponder, Texas) put the match away with a header off a corner kick from Kaitlyn Judge (So., Lubbock, Texas) who assisted on all three scores.
 
The Rattlers will take their 1-1 conference record to Laredo, Texas on Oct. 10 when they play against Texas A&M International.
