Late goal from UTPB stalls Rattlers

ODESSA, Texas — Playing their second Heartland Conference match in three days, the St. Mary's Rattlers fell to the Texas-Permian Basin Falcons 1-0 on Saturday in what was a defensive struggle.
 
Both squads combined for only four shots on goal, in what was the second meeting of the season between the two teams. In the 74th minute, UTPB had the one shot that mattered the most, coming off a volley from Rafael Moreira.
 
Jack Verth (Jr., Edinburgh, Scotland) led the Rattler charge offensively with three shots as Aaron Dunks (Sr., Manchester, England) and Alex Gonzalez (R-Jr., McAllen, Texas) contributed two shots apiece.
 
Getting the start in goal for the Rattlers was Jack Moore (Jr., Lewisham, London) who recorded a match high two saves.
 
Five yellow cards were assessed during the match, with three going to UTPB and two to StMU.
 
The Rattlers will travel to Laredo, Texas on Oct. 10 to face Texas A&M International as they continue Heartland Conference play.
