By Brian Magloyoan | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — One day after an emotional home victory, St. Mary's faced a tough Angelo State team, losing in an exciting five-set affair Friday night inside Bill Greehey Arena.

The Rattlers seemed to carry the momentum from the previous night, outlasting the Rambelles 25-22 in a first game that saw 12 ties and five lead changes. In the second game, the Rambelles responded emphatically, tying the match at one set apiece.

Lauren Holman (Sr., Rowlett, Texas) made a strong contribution, leading the team with seven blocks and tacking on nine kills as Channing Hankins (Fr., Katy, Texas) led the team with 11 kills.

In the pivotal third set, the Snakes battled from behind before breaking even with the Belles at 23. What ensued after was a controversial no-call that ultimately led to Angelo State taking a 2-1 lead in the match. With their backs against the wall, the Rattlers refused to fold. Down 24-21 in the fourth game, St. Mary's reeled off four consecutive points enroute to taking the set 27-25, forcing a decisive fifth set.

Tarine Grace (So., San Antonio) logged ten kills in addition to Maddy Walsh (Fr., Arlington, Texas) leading the team with 23 assists and 30 digs from Tori Estrada (Sr., San Antonio).

Saturday, the Rattlers will play their last of a three-match homestand against Dallas Baptist in a Heartland Conference contest at 12 p.m.
