OKLAHOMA CITY — St. Mary's Men's Basketball took its impressive win streak to four games after traveling to Oklahoma City and taking a 68-62 victory over Heartland Conference foe Oklahoma Christian Thursday night.

The win kept the Rattlers tied with rival St. Edward's for the No.1 spot in the league.

St. Mary's was led by a big performance by Marvin Whitt (Sr., Birmingham, Ala.) hitting key baskets on his way to a 20-point night. He also added a team-high three assists to his cause.

Whitt's fellow guard Marvin Binney (Sr., Toronto, Ontario) was the only other St. Mary's player with double-digit points, chipping in 10 to go along with his two assists.

Joe Monroe (RS-Sr., San Antonio) led the team with six rebounds, three of those coming on the defensive end.

After a see-saw first half that saw the lead change on seven different occasions, the Rattlers trailed going into the break, 31-29.

The second frame started just as the first left off with lead changes occurring in the half's opening minutes.

The Rattlers tied things up at 34-34 early with big basket and foul from Justin Alexander (Sr., San Antonio). The Eagles took the lead yet again on a layup before Monroe added another score to level things at 36.

It was then Whitt's time to shine and he did, extending the Rattlers' lead to five with a quick two points and a huge three-pointer to put the Rattlers in the driver seat.

St. Mary's kept its stronghold despite Oklahoma Christian (3-14, 1-10 in Heartland Conference) coming within five points after the Rattlers led by as much as 15.

The Rattlers saw out the game for the win taking their season win total to 11 and improving to 7-3 in the Heartland Conference and 11-7 overall.

The Rattler' will try to continue their win streak when taking on Newman at 3 p.m. Saturday in Wichita, Kan.

The Rattlers will then return to Bill Greehey Arena on Feb. 5 to take on Rogers State at 5:30 p.m.
