DALLAS — St. Mary's perfect start to the spring season continues.
The Rattler Women's Tennis team picked up two more wins over the weekend, blanking Dallas Baptist 9-0 before routing Arkansas-Fort Smith 8-1.
The victories improved St. Mary's overall record to 8-0 and made them a league-best 3-0 in Heartland Conference play.
And in the process, No. 1 hitter
Mariana Rong improved to 29-0 in her two-year career as a Rattler in dual singles play.
But the Rattlers have shown they are far, far more than a one-woman show.
Against DBU (3-3), the Rattlers (8-0) didn't have a single set taken from them in singles play, as Rong,
Cristina Lopez,
Felicity Delgado,
Jamie Lee Denton,
Ariana Saldana and
Joanie Bryant all cruised to victories.
It was much the same against Arkansas-Fort Smith (3-3), though Denton was taken to the brink in a contested match before ultimately prevailing 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.
St. Mary's will now turn its attention to the Sunshine State, as the Rattlers will travel for a week-long stay in Florida. The Rattlers will begin by taking on Tampa in Tampa, Fla., on Tuesday.
