SAN ANTONIO — No. 23 St. Mary's Women's Tennis took serve for the first time on its all-new Rohrbach Stadium Saturday, sweeping regional contender Texas A&M-Kingsville 9-0.
The Rattlers improved to 2-0 on the season with the victory, defeating Division I Incarnate Word in their spring opener last week.
All-American
Mariana Rong swept in No. 1 singles, defeating Mariaxi Herrera 6-0,6-0. The junior also swept in doubles play, teaming up with
Joanie Bryant to win 8-0.
Senior
Ariana Saldana was the only other Rattler to keep her opponent from scoring, sweeping Alexandra Carrillo in the No. 5 singles.
In singles play, only one Javalina was able to score more than one point against the Rattlers in the decisive win.
The Rattlers face Trinity in their next matchup at 3 p.m. Thursday in San Antonio.
