FORT SMITH, Ark. — St. Mary's Women's Basketball continues to hit snags on the road despite quality play, as they fell to UA Fort Smith in a nail bitter Saturday, 69-66.

Dezirae Elias (So., Chandler, Ariz.) and Jackie Woods (Sr., San Antonio) led in scoring with 18 points apiece followed by Morgan Pullins (Jr., Franklin, Mich.) with 13.

Elias continued to fire from behind the arc to score her career-high 18 points, knocking down five 3-pointers against the Lions and recorded six rebounds, the second-most on the team, and four assists.

Kyra Littlejohn (Jr., Southfield, Mich.) was the main distributor, tallying an impressive eight assists while Kiara Etheridge (Fr., San Antonio) led on the boards with nine rebounds.

Each team combated well with the Rattlers scoring 33 points each half while the Lions record 34 and 35 per half.

The Lions (7-15, 7-9 in conference) slated their largest lead of the game with four minutes in the final frame, edging the Rattlers by nine.

But the Rattlers were able to cut the lead to just three in the final minutes and were able to take the final shot of the game to tie it but their 3-pointer with six seconds remaining didn't fall to give them their second straight defeat.

With the loss, the Rattlers dropped to the No. 3 team in the Heartland Conference with a 14-7 overall record and 9-6 league record.

St. Mary's returns home to play Texas-Permian Basin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Bill Greehey Arena.
