Women's Basketball falters under sharp Lady Chap shooting

SAN ANTONIO — Suburb shooting from Lubbock Christian enabled it to remain undefeated in league play as Women's Basketball fell 78-51 Saturday.
 
As they shot an impressive 50 percent from the field and from behind arc only to boast an 87.5 free throw percentage, the Lady Chaps downed the Rattlers at Bill Greehey Arena, causing St. Mary's to drop to the No. 4 team in the Heartland Conference with a 15-8 overall record and 10-7 conference record.
 
Jackie Woods (Sr., San Antonio) led in scoring in the loss, recording 17 points along with a team-high four assists and four steals.
 
Kathryn Galindo (RS-Sr., San Antonio) and Morgan Pullins (Jr., Franklin, Mich.) also added double digits in scoring with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
 
The Lady Chaps portrayed their prowess throughout the game, which included scoring 36 points off three-pointers alone, keeping St. Mary's under 30 points for each half and leading by 16 at the break, 44-28.
 
The Rattlers held a lead once in the early stages of the game, but it was the Lady Chaps (22-1, 17-0) who took control from there for the victory.
 
St. Mary's travels to play McMurry in its next matchup, tipping off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Abilene, Texas.
