Women's Tennis continues perfect start against Trinity

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Women's Tennis kept its unbeaten spring season going Thursday, beating cross-town foe Trinity 8-1 on the Tigers' campus.
 
Led by No. 1 hitter Mariana Rong, the Rattlers recorded a clean sweep in singles action, as Rong, Cristina Lopez, Felicity Delgado, Jamie Lee Denton, Ariana Saldana and Joanie Bryant all were victorious.
 
Rong, Delgado and Denton each won in straight sets, while Lopez, Saldana and Bryant toughed out three-set victories.
 
In doubles, Mariana Rong and Cristina Lopez blanked Caroline White and Kathleen Lundquist 8-0. Rattler tandem Felicity Delgado/Joanie Bryant also eked out a doubles victory, edging Stephanie Williamson and Kristy Hamilton 9-7.
 
St. Mary's, ranked No. 23, improved to 3-0 this spring with the victory. The Rattlers will be back in action Friday when they host Temple College at 3 p.m. at the Rohrbach Stadium Tennis Complex.
