By Chad Peters | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Volleyball saw its three-match winning streak come to an end in Saturday's regular-season finale, as Arkansas-Fort Smith swept the Rattlers 3-0 on Senior Day at Bill Greehey Arena.

UAFS, the Heartland Conference regular-season champs, won the match 25-15, 25-22, 25-19 before 267 fans.

The two teams will meet again in a week, as the top-seeded Lions (23-4, 15-1) will take on the No. 4 seed Rattlers (11-13, 8-8) in the semifinals round of the Heartland Conference Tournament. The tournament is slated to begin Friday at a to-be-determined time at the Stubblefield Center in Fort Smith, Ark.

Kelsey Huber, one of five seniors honored on the day, had a terrific match, recording nine kills and leading the Rattlers with 18 digs. Melissa Heft, another senior, added seven kills. Lauren Slaughter hit .400 with seven kills and four block assists.

Seniors Devan Hartung, Taylor Obermiller and Victorria Martinez joined Huber and Heft in being honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the match in which they were presented framed jerseys and flowers.

The Rattlers will be making their second consecutive tournament appearance and third in the five-year tenure of head coach Jenny Warmack-Chipman.
