EL PASO, Texas — Senior Morgan Pullins went on a tear in St. Mary's Women's Basketball's exhibition against Division I University of Texas at El Paso Friday night as the Rattlers fell 77-50.

The Rattlers saw several highlights in the division clash against the Miners but Pullins (Franklin, Mich.) lit up above the rest, scoring over half of the Rattlers' points.

Pullins, a three-time All-Conference Second Team selection, nearly shot 50 percent from the floor in her double-double, scoring 26 points and pulling in 10 rebounds. The forward also recorded three blocks and one steal and went 2-3 behind the arc.

Junior and starting point Dezirae Elias (Chandler, Ariz.) led the Rattlers with three assists and totaled seven points, also hitting two from the three-point range.

The Rattlers went into the half down 37-23 and put up 27 points in the second half but the Miners powered through to score 40 points in the final half with three players ending in double-digits for the 77-50 win.

Freshman Kealani Marquez (San Antonio) earned a start in the exhibition, bringing in five boards, the second most on the team, and dished out two assists.

Transfer Ciaira Briseno (So., McAllen, Texas) was also effective in her first game in gold and blue, going 2-2 in three-pointers while active rebounder and returning sophomore Kiara Etheridge (San Antonio) added four rebounds, two steals and one block.

The Rattlers' exhibition against D-I UTEP, which went 29-8 overall last season, hopes to bulk up the Snakes for the upcoming season.

This season the Rattlers, who were ranked No. 2 in the Heartland Conference preseason poll, are bidding for their third straight regional appearance with the advantage of a strong returning core and a promising recruiting class.

The Rattlers open the regular season at the Tarleton Classic, facing Lone Star Conference contender Angelo State in their season opener at Noon Friday in Stephenville, Texas.
