AUSTIN, Texas — St. Mary's Women's Soccer rival St. Edward's fiercely charged in the "Battle of the Saints" matchup Saturday afternoon, winning 1-0, controlling a game that allowed the Rattlers to take just three shots.

The Hilltoppers, (11-4, 7-0 in conference), who are currently No. 1 league standings and will host the Heartland Conference Championship Tournament starting Thursday, fired off 18 shots to the Rattlers' three in 90 minutes of play.

The game was decided on a Hilltopper goal 10 minutes into the game when Katie Donahue's corner kick found the back of the net.

Seven of the Hilltoppers' 18 shots were on goal, giving keeper Alyssa Taramona (Jr., Forney, Texas) six saves in the loss, dropping her to 8-8 on the season.

The fiery game saw three yellows cards and one red card, issued on St. Mary's, in the Rattlers' final Heartland Conference game on the season.

The loss drops StMU to 8-8 on the season and 4-4 in league play, locking them as the No. 4 seed in the upcoming postseason tournament.

The Rattlers' two shots on goal were taken by Lauren Peck (Jr., San Antonio) and Sam Lara (Jr., San Antonio) recorded the only other shot on the day.

The Rattlers play their final game of the regular season at 3 p.m. Monday against Oklahoma Baptist. The game is hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce and will be played in Commerce, Texas.
