WICHITA, Kan. — After a 1-0 victory over Heartland Conference foe Newman Monday afternoon, St. Mary's Women's Soccer is now enjoying a five-game winning streak, tying the best winning streak held by head coach Corwyn Ritch.

Kristal Williams (So., Ponder, Texas) netted the game-winner less than two minutes into the second half which the Jets were unable to contest to push the Rattlers' win streak to five.

The current five-game winning streak ties Ritch's best win streak as head coach which he last achieved in the 2001 season in his first year as head coach.

For Williams, her goal against the Jets (4-5-1, 0-2 in conference) marked her second straight game-winner and her third straight game scoring at least one goal.

With the win, the Rattlers are now 6-4 on the season with a perfect 2-0 conference record, placing them in three-way tie for first place in league standings.

The Jets and Rattlers were balanced throughout the 90 minutes at Wilkins Field with the Jets putting up eight shots with two shots on goal to the Rattlers' seven shots with one shot on goal.

Keeper Alyssa Taramona (Jr., Forney, Texas) recorded her third straight shutout Monday, stating one save against the Jets to improve her record to 6-4 on the season.

The squads were a stalemate 0-0 at the half with Williams breaking it open in the final frame. The sophomore attacked at the second half kickoff, scoring in the 46th minute off a shot from 18 yards out to the left post to produce the final score of 1-0 and record her fifth goal on the season.

Williams led the Rattlers with three shots and recorded their lone shot on goal. Roxy Cruz Santory (Fr., San Antonio), Lynsie Shaw (Jr., San Antonio) and Kaitlyn Judge (Fr., Lubbock, Texas) all recorded one shot apiece.

The Rattlers return home to play Texas-Permian Basin at 5 p.m. Saturday at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
