Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady Rattlers dominate RSU 6-0 for fourth straight win

By Chad Peters | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Things couldn't be going much better for St. Mary's Women's Soccer right now.

The Lady Rattlers trounced Rogers State 6-0 in Saturday's Heartland Conference opener, using back-to-back goals from Kristal Williams in the opening three minutes to kick start an afternoon that saw StMU win its fourth in a row.

Freshman Kaitlyn Judge followed with consecutive goals of her own, one that gave the Rattlers (5-4) a 3-0 lead into halftime and another that opened up a 4-0 lead moments into the second half against the Hillcats (0-10, 0-1). Roxy Cruz Santory found the back of the net for another goal in the 73rd minute, as did Kaitie Kasperitis with 28 seconds remaining to make it 6-0.

Kasperitis, who also had a pair of assists on the day, moved within three goals of breaking Kyle Hyslop's career goals record of 34. Kasperitis now has 32 goals in three-plus years with the program.

For St. Mary's (6-5, 1-0 in Heartland Conference), the victory marked its second consecutive 6-0 triumph, having also routed Huston-Tilltson last week. During its four-game winning streak, St. Mary's has outscored its opponents 16-2.

Alyssa Taramona went the distance in the net for St. Mary's, picking up her second shutout of the season to improve to 5-4. Taramona, who had six saves Saturday, also pitched 45 minutes of shutout play in last week's victory over Huston-Tillotson before resting with a comfortable lead.

The Rattlers are now 2-0 all-time against Rogers State, with a 10-0 goal differential. Taramona has a combined total of 180 clean minute vs. the Hillcats.

St. Mary's outshot RSU 19-15, with 11 Hillcat saves preventing the score from getting anymore out of hand.

The Rattlers will return to action Monday, when they travel to Wichita, Kan., to take on Newman at 12 p.m.
