Volleyball drops to rival St. Edward's on the road

AUSTIN, Texas — St. Mary's Volleyball dropped a three-set match to St. Edward's on the road Thursday, falling 25-11, 25-21 and 25-19.
 
Melissa Heft (Jr., San Antonio) led the Rattlers in kills with seven while Victorria Martinez (Jr., Arlington, Texas) recorded a team-high 23 digs and Mikayla Bass (So., Coppell, Texas) led in assists with 21.
 
The Rattlers fell to 6-6 in Heartland Conference play and 10-12 overall while St. Edward's improved to 6-5 and 8-13 overall to pull ahead of the Rattlers in conference standings. Currently, the Rattlers are tied for fourth place in the league and are in a must-win situation for the remainder of conference play in order to advance to postseason play.
 
St. Mary's Volleyball remains on the road to face Texas A&M International at 12 p.m. Saturday in Laredo, Texas.
