SAN ANTONIO — A potential swing game in the Heartland Conference volleyball race didn't go St. Mary's way Saturday.
The Rattlers rallied from a two-set hole against Dallas Baptist, but couldn't come all the way back in a 3-1 loss at Bill Greehey Arena.
St. Mary's (8-10, 5-4) lost the match 17-25, 22-25, 25-20, 18-25, dropping them from second in the league standings into a tie with Newman for third place.
Jenna Paul and
Kelsey Huber led St. Mary's offensive attack with 15 and 13 kills, respectively, while
Megan Isbell provided a spark off the bench with four kills in seven attempts to go along with five blocks.
Lauren Slaughter tied Isbell for the team lead with five blocks.
Rachael Schicchitano and
Mikayla Bass shared duties setting up the offense with 23 and 22 assists, respectively. St. Mary's hit .204 compared to DBU's mark of .231.
The Rattlers will continue their five-match homestand with a non-conference battle Tuesday against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The match will begin at 7 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
