Deni Cresto will serve as an interim Sports Performance Coach while the university works on replacing Zak Snell, Director of Sports Performance. Cresto has been an assistant men's soccer coach since July, 2023 and was one of the most beloved student-athletes in St. Mary's Men's Soccer history.
Cresto was a five-year letterwinner, All-Region, All-Conference, Scholar-Athlete award winner for men's soccer. In addition to his efforts on the pitch and in the classroom, Cresto was also a recipient of the Marianist Student Leadership Award, one of the most prestigious awards given at St. Mary’s University. He is only the second student-athlete in school history to earn the honor.
 Â
Cresto led the team in scoring in 2022 and was honored on the All-South Central Region First-Team by both the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches Association after earning First-Team All-Conference honors by the Lone Star Conference coaches. He also spent time as a graduate assistant in the sports performance department during the spring semester, working closely with Snell, who left to take a position closer to home.Â
