The 2019 season marks Justin Snyder’s second with the St. Mary’s Volleyball team. In his first, the team made improvements in assists, blocks and kills per set – all areas he works with – despite being a much younger team than the season prior.
The Rattlers also ranked in the top three in the Heartland Conference statistics in both assists and kills, ranking second in assists with 12.23 per set and third in kills with 12.79 a stanza. The club ranked fourth in blocks with 1.85 a set.
Snyder joined the St. Mary’s family from Jacksonville State, where he spent one year as a graduate assistant. The Gamecocks were 23-13 overall and earned the sixth-seed at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Snyder's experience includes spending time as a volunteer assistant at Davidson in 2016, coaching club teams and working volleyball camps. His Carolina Juniors 15s squad earned a trip to nationals in Indianapolis and he’s coached camps at Appalachian State, NC State, University of Alabama at Birmingham and North Carolina.
As a player, he spent four years as a member of the Belmont Abbey Men’s Volleyball squad. A two-year starter at middle blocker, he also spent time at outside hitter and helped lead the team to an 18-11 record in his final year, the best single-season win total in program history. He collected 173 kills, 83 blocks and carried a .400 hitting percentage en route to leading the Crusaders to their first playoff victory in school history during his last season.
A 2016 graduate of Belmont Abbey College, Snyder earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management.
