After finding success as a student-athlete and as a head coach in the high school and NAIA levels, Callaway Logan has set her sights on doing the same at St. Mary's University.Â

*4 yrs. at St. Thomas (NAIA) |
Logan, beginning her first year coaching Rattler Volleyball, was recently named the ninth head coach in the history of the program after four successful seasons at NAIA St. Thomas University (Florida), where she finished with a 77-39 record and was twice named The Sun Conference Coach of the Year (2012 and 2014).
Â
"I'm excited about being able to come into the program, really help the girls and turn things around," Logan said. "I like the challenge of that and that's something I look forward to."
Â
In each of her four seasons at STU, Logan led the Bobcats to winning records including three consecutive The Sun Conference Tournament Finals appearances from 2012-2013.
Â
When asked about what drew her to St. Mary's, Logan tied it back to her beginnings.
Â
"(St. Mary's) was just so familiar to me," she said, "because of where I came from and the small-school atmosphere."
Â
Like the new head coach, St. Mary's Athletics Director Liz Dalton shared the same thoughts.
Â
"We are thrilled to add Callaway to our Athletics family," Dalton said. "Coming from a similar university, she will be a tremendous fit in the St. Mary's community."
Â
Before coaching, the Louisville, Kentucky native was a standout on the court, playing from 2003-2006 for NCAA Division I Samford University, where she ranked third all-time in career digs while playing outside hitter and libero.Â
 Â
Logan's expectations for her new team extend beyond the court.
Â
"Overall, it's to start winning," she stated. "But it's also to grow as players and to grow as a team."
Logan has shown to do that everywhere she has coached.Â
Before arriving at St. Thomas, Logan served as the head coach at Oldham County High School in Buckner, Kentucky. Logan's team qualified for the Elite Eight in her first year there for the school's first-ever Kentucky State Tournament appearance. As a result, she was named the Coach of the Year for Kentucky's Region 8.Â
In three years at Oldham County, she went 85-25 (winning percentage of .773) and led her team to two district finals and two regional finals, winning one district and one regional title. Logan got Oldham County ranked as high as No. 11 in the state by the end of her tenure for the school's highest ranking in history.Â
Logan also spent two years coaching at Alabama Juniors and one year at KIVA, considered one of the top club volleyball programs in the country.Â
Logan graduated in 2007 from Samford with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Mass Communications and also graduated from University of the Cumberlands in 2010 with a Master's in Education. She resides in San Antonio with her two children, Addalyn and Rylee. They attend Oak Hills Church in San Antonio.
