Diego Tapia-Fraites joined the St. Mary’s University Women’s Soccer team for the 2026 season.
Tapia-Fraites brings a wealth of soccer knowledge from coaching at various clubs in San Antonio, including SA Athletic FC, SA City SC, and Premier FA San Antonio. He is a USSF-licensed coach who is aspiring to complete the USSF A license by 2030.
Tapia-Fraites played soccer at McKendree University from 2019-22, where he helped the Bearcats win the regular season crown in 2019 and reach the GLVC Tournament Finals and the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in sport management, Tapia-Fraites went on to play semi-professionally at Corpus Christi FC in 2021-22 and played professionally in Czechia in 2023-24 for FK Robstav Preštice. He also continued his education, earning a master’s degree in business administration from UIW in 2024.
Tapia-Fraites is a native of New York City, though he spent time growing up in Madrid, Spain and Hong Kong SAR.
